I don't know Karate, but I know Ca-Ray-Zay!

Welcome to the blog of Clan Whipple. I've had a blog of my professional adventures for some time but not a family blog. I know family members have become bored with stories about my work.

So here you go: In the coming months and years, this on line journal will begin to flesh out with travels, accomplishments, insights, adventures, loves, gatherings, concerts, exhibitions, creations and various and sundry other adventures and miscellany to do with the Whipple Clan.

Let's start it off with an obvious blog posting.

Here's Shaw advancing from a beginning Karate student to a yellow belt. I don't know why this pic is so striking to me. I think it's because of how straight his arm is. He's really doing well but I think I could still take him down. There will probably come a time in a few years that I would not want to tangle with him though. He has really latched on to his instruction and it has kept his attention for many months now. It's a great dojo with a passionate sensei.

Here are some of his fellow students that also advanced that day. That's one excited kid on the right of this photo...
I think he's leaning too far back on this one, but it was a good kick that was too fast for my camera. The sinsei (s) didn't comment much at all during the testing on any of the students but one of them exclaimed spontaneously that Shaw had the best kiai (battle cry) she had ever heard. It was pretty good. Better than some of the teenage students that should have known how to do a better kiai.

Thanks for reading. More to follow.
